FAQS

Have questions? We’re here to help.

  • What is the cost?

The cost is $360 per hour. Minimum bookings are 1 hour.

  • When can I book?

Bookings for private events are available from the May Long weekend to Labour Day weekend after 5 p.m.

Unfortunately, we do not offer charter bookings on Sundays.

Common blackout dates include Friday and Saturday of long weekends, the week before, after, and including the Fringe Festival (mid-August), society meetings (second Tuesday of the month, not including July and August), Pride Parade day (early June), and scheduled track maintenance.

Charters cannot run at night, meaning the streetcar must be back at Strathcona barn no later than 45 minutes after sunset.

Visit our booking page to check availability for your event:

  • Who drives the streetcar?

Any charters on the High Level Bridge line will always have two certified motormen on the car to assist and answer any questions you may have. All members of the Edmonton Radial Railway Society (ERRS) are volunteers.

100% of the proceeds from charter revenues go towards the maintenance, restoration, and operation of historic streetcars.

  • Do I tip?

The volunteer motormen on your charter do not expect and should not accept tips. Any gratuities provided to the motormen will be treated as a donation to the ERRS.

Receipts can be provided upon request.

  • Can I bring music on board?

Yes, you can! But if your instrument or speakers require power, the customer must provide the batteries. We have NO outlets on the streetcar to plug into. Anything that combusts such as fuel-powered generators or candles cannot come on the car.

  • How long should I book for?

A typical hour allows for round trip travel from Strathcona to Grandin and back with a generous pause (approx. 25-30 mins) at the mid-span of the High Level Bridge to relax and enjoy a rare and panoramic view of the City and its beautiful river valley.

For Weddings, we recommend 90 minutes if you wish to mingle and enjoy beverages following the ceremony on the bridge overlooking the river.

  • Can we bring liquor on the streetcar?

Yes, however, the following instructions need to be followed closely:

    • The liquor licence must be obtained by the customer before the charter from the AGLC website (private non-sale SEL licence).

    • All liquor to be consumed on the car must have the receipts attached to the licence (no u-brew wine or beer)

    • The licence must be posted on the streetcar during your event

    • Liquor can only be consumed when the car is parked in the middle of the High Level Bridge
